Gyoza

This Sunday at church we had a women’s fellowship and learned how to make yummy gyoza!

The ingredients

047

This is the lady that taught us how to make it. She is very sweet. This was her last week at the church so she wanted to give all the ladies her testimony, some words of wisdom and a little Japanese culture!

029

Stirring together the flour and water to make the glue mixture.

033

The dumplings.

031

Shitake mushrooms, leeks, and onions

048

Getting our dumpling shell ready.

034

The inside goodness!

049

Filling the dumpling.

035

The hardest part was folding it up. There is a certain way to do it…and this is not it…but it works!

037

Some of the ladies working on their gyoza!

038

The other side of the table.

040

Cooking the gyoza.

044

The finished product. Add some soy sauce and a splash of hot sauce. Throw it in your mouth and ENJOY! Mmmmm! Gyoza is one of the best Japanese foods.

Spring

All of us here in Japan are anxiously waiting for the cherry blossoms (sakuras) to bloom. That will mean warmer weather is just around the corner and they are just so gorgeous. This will be my first time experiencing them. The first time Peter was stationed in Japan I didn’t get to visit during the cherry blossom season.

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

One of my biggest struggles.

Jerk Chicken

Saturday we checked out a little Jamaican restaurant (notice the spelling below rastarant). 073

This little boy ran up and smacked me on the butt. Then continued to entertain Cora with his sweet dance moves and acrobat abilities. He’d climb up on that stool and jump off! He was the owner’s kid.074

Then he brought out his yo-yo. 083

Inside. Very Jamaican. Got the reggae blaring. Bob Marley on the walls. Red, yellow, and green everywhere. I like it.  080

The bar.077

Working on my picture taking skills. 076

This is the stuff we came for. Jerk chicken.078

Jerk chicken pizza. Sooooo good! 085

My hubby rocks!

Peter rocks because not only does he cook us healthy, yummy dinners BUT he actually enjoys doing it. I’m not much of a cook. I really don’t enjoy it. So this is awesome for me.

Peter gettin his cook on! I made him take a picture. I swear he’s happy to be cooking. He’s just forcing a smile for the camera.

003

Mmmm…look at the fish…delicious. funny/catchy video

014

Up close

012

I could live off ramen. Feel bad for him. haha

Japan

My heart goes out to everyone involved in the earthquake and tsunami disaster. As of right now thousands are dead and some 88,000 people are missing. The pictures and videos are insane. Seeing this wave come crashing through a city and tearing down everything in its way is just so unreal. Like a doomsday movie almost. I'm so thankful that we were safe and sound way down south. We didn't even feel the earthquake. How things can change so quickly...

March 11, 2011

Sorry.

I've been really slacking on the blog thing for several reasons. One is we haven't been doing anything of any type of blog worthyness. And the other is because I am on the computer every moment I am able doing school work. Ughhh. I'm only 3 weeks into my first class and I feel like my soul is being sucked from my body. College is for young folk straight out of high school. It is not easy taking classes with a baby. Thankfully, I only have a little over a year left. That is not so bad when you really think about it. I have electives I need to complete as well but I'm going to CLEP out of as many as I possibly can. Thank goodness for the easy way! Well, quicker way. I'll be better. I really do want to keep it up.
