Family Photos

Yesterday we went out to Miyajima to take some family photos with the lovely Danielle Caceres-Bricheno. Miyajima is such a great city to visit. There are lots of historic shrines, cute shops and deer roam around like they own the place. I've been very excited about going and had hoped to spend a little time there after or before the photo shoot. However, life is always a bit chaotic with the Hatfield family. We didn't allot enough time to get to Miyajima to start off. We've been there before and always took the train which drops you off right in front of the ferry that will take you on to Miyajima. So we weren't exactly sure where we were going. Always exciting. We finally found a sign and pulled into the first parking lot we could find. Lucky for us (sarcasm) it was 1000yen flat rate (which is over $10). Dangit! We sprinted to get on the ferry. At this point we had 20 minutes to get to our shoot and it was a 20 minute walk from the ferry to the bridge where we were taking the photos. The gate was being pulled up on the ferry right when we got into line. Just missed it. So while we waited for the ferry I got a chance to put Cora's shoes on her. That was a joke. Shoes on babies are cute but they just don't work with their littly squishy feet. We finally got on the ferry. Thankfully it moves faster than you would expect. We got to the island and sprinted through the streets to find this bridge where we were meeting Danielle. The Japanese are so gracious. The signs arn't all in kanji. So we made it to the bridge a little over 20 minutes late. Danielle was no where in sight but we eventually spotted a little American boy. She had been shooting a family before us and they were running late as well. So the timing ended up working out perfectly. We found Danielle and the photos began. We started with taking pictures of Cora alone and she was adorable. Then right when we started the group photos she started getting fussy. And this girl would not smile for anything. Three adults doing the craziest things to make a baby smile and NOTHING! Not even a smirk! We were shooting near a creek and of course her shoe fell off into the water. It's freezing outside so she couldn't wear a wet shoe. Ah... thankfully I had some socks in the diaper bag. Danielle was very patient with us as Cora was fussing and flailing about. Hopefully we got some good photos. We'll find out in a week. Danielle has a great eye and I think her photos are beautiful so I have lots of faith that she'll make us look amazing.
